GROOVES & GATEKEEPERS part one

SCRIPTURE:  “Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.” Philippians 4:8
Scientists some time ago revealed that every repeated thought we have physically alters our brain, causing certain trains of thought to form actual grooves in our mind over time! God said it first, eons ago in His Holy Word! So, how is your thought life these days?  Are you daily guarding the gates of your mind, filtering out the toxic stuff? Whether it’s related to regrettable past events, people outside of your fan base, or just life in general?  Are you proactively being the gatekeeper of your mind, or have you forfeited all obedience to this divine command?  Are you guilty of habitually allowing anything and anybody to permeate, and if possible, completely breach the walls of your peace? -- which is your divine birthright as a Spirit-indwelt child of the King? I confess occasional guilt in this area, but I’m making progress, praise the LORD!

Have you permitted God’s truth in all spheres of life to wear a ‘groove” in your mind (heart) or thought processes?  You know that our Lord commands that we do this very thing---read again our title verse; meditate a bit on it!  Our LORD, due to His omniscience, is the undisputed Expert on what opposes this discipline of controlling our thoughts.  As our omniscient Savior God and Great High Priest, the LORD indeed sympathizes with our weaknesses, and was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin, says Hebrews 4:15. Rehearse these truths in your spirit when the enemy’s darts and an assortment of adversities common to this earthly life threaten to steal your joy in Christ!

PRAYER:  Dear Lord, give us a truly strong desire to please You with every thought and with every word we utter!  In and of ourselves, this is impossible, but with You ALL things are possible!  In Christ’s faithful name—thank You and AMEN!
