Trusting In the LORD

Forty years in church and Pastoral-that’s what we’re celebrating I the month of July. Join us as we receive encouragement from one another when write about when and how the Lord led each writer to Genesis! Bible Fellowship Church. Enjoy today's devotional and may it remind you of when you were led to this branch of Zion!
SCRIPTURE: “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6
We were members at a church in the city. My parents have been in that church for many, many years. That’s the church I went to when I was growing up. That church had more singing and concerts than the word of God. We got married there. After a while, Rob was ready to find a church for our family.

He asked his co-worker did she knew any churches, where my family could grow. She told him about Genesis and not her church. She said that he was a young Pastor starting a new work at the League of the Handicap. So, one Sunday we went there and Pastor Cockrell preached a message of how we are the Church. It was like we were in bible school. We came back a couple of times between our church. Rob said this is it. I felt a little pulling because I had been in our church a long time and my parents and my aunt and cousins went there. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to leave our church. I didn’t want Us to be going to two different churches, so I went reluctantly with my husband.

This body of Christ was different, more word centered and not stories. We gathered our daughter and headed to Genesis. Every Sunday, we would look at each other and on our way home, I would ask him questions, and we talked about the message. The messages spoke to me. I agreed with him this is where we need to be. In May of 1988 we stayed and in August 1988 we joined the Genesis Bible Fellowship Church. We trusted in the LORD to grow us in His Word and to be a testimony to the world, and our
families; that as Christians we need to live what we profess, and to practice love for one another.

PRAYER: Dear LORD, help me to trust You more, with Your guidance for my life. I ask You to make my heart pliable and continue to direct my paths wherever I go. I ask You to help me maintain a spiritual balance in doctrine and practice. I ask that You would correct specific areas in my life which need to be corrected. I know we all fall short of Your example. Help me to reflect You more in my walk as I grow in the Word, and I thank You for directing my path in this season of my life. In Jesus Name, Amen!
