Follow Our Lead?
In celebration of Genesis Bible Fellowship's 40th Pastoral & Church Anniversary we would like to take the month of June to share Devotionals based upon when and how the Lord led each writer to Genesis! Bible Fellowship Church. Enjoy today's devotional and may it remind you of when you were led to this branch of Zion!
SCRIPTURE: “Imitate me just as I also imitate Christ.” 1 Corinthians 11:1

Life is about growing. A baby first learns to crawl. After crawling, he learns to walk and then becomes better able to control his balance and destination. Then more mature things can be done. We usually follow the lead of someone else first.
As I was growing up, it was important to be able to learn to do things right. You need to learn the fundamentals first. Psalm 1 shows how the learning process can go one of two ways. The first way can sound good and be exciting, but like Proverbs 16: 25, it can lead to disaster. The second way can lead to true reward.
When I worked at the city jail, I found that there were so many things that I could learn there, like alternate trades, another language, and a different mindset, just to name a few. The teachers were those who couldn’t leave that place because they didn’t have a key. I was learning these ways, but I met a guy. He worked as a nurse there. Though he played basketball with us, he didn’t act like us. He carried himself a different way, whether absent or present from work. Years later, I heard his name, a preacher at this place called Genesis. I realized he was already preaching to me without words when I had first met him. I went. I stayed. A better way to lead is to follow one who is following THE ONE.
PRAYER: Jehovah. Only You are wise and see the end from the beginning. You sent JESUS to us and for us and show us in so many ways how YOU love us. Let us see, through the noise and darkness, YOUR light and guidance.
