The Gift That Keeps Giving

SCRIPTURE: "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning." James 1:17
Christians during Christmas should seize an exclusive opportunity to honor, Christ Jesus,
Sadly, believers and unbelievers anticipate and celebrate for the wrong intentions and reasons.

It’s a projected period and season around the time of Christ’s birth,
A prophecy that would address darkness by providing light on earth.

Christ’s purpose was fulfilled and established as the greatest event to have ever occurred,
The ultimate sacrifice was predicted, witnessed, and documented according to the Word.

First, He lived to sympathize with us,
Next, He took the burden of sin for us.

Then, He died for us,
Finally, He rose on the third day for us.

Now, it’s up to us to accept, honor, and know him,
Building a personal relationship to always remember Him.

This establishes the true essence of Christmas as the gift that just keeps giving,
A reminder of unconditional love, unmatched freedom, and unmerited forgiveness.

Yet, the world has adopted ungodly practices and incorporated them into the Christmas season,
All for the fulfilment and benefit of people rather than acknowledging and honoring, Christ Jesus.

As a result, Christmas has become associated with disappointment, depression, and stress,
It’s now attached to isolation, grief, shame, pressure, and loneliness.

Who can keep up with the unrealistic expectations that Christmas creates,
This should be a conflict for believers who choose to embrace and participate.

Consider the routines, traditions, advertisements, and financial demands,
Then question whether they are birthed, related, or approved from God’s hands.

Imagine a world who sings Christmas songs that glorify and worship our living God,
Rather than creating images, idols, and heroes that overshadow the most important part.

Imagine joining hands with family and friends praying and spreading the Good News,
Rather than honoring Santa Claus, decorating and entertaining, and purchasing new shoes.

The issue is not the celebratory love gestures during this holiday time,
It’s the act of not making Jesus the primary focus that draws us out of line.

True believers should question the source of their motivation,
Is it the resources from the world that really stir up our inspiration?

Therefore, as Christmas approaches, examine what makes it special and merry to you,
If the focus isn’t about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the foundation is questionable and untrue.

PRAYER: Thank You for the gift of Your only begotten Son, Jesus Christ. Let the true message of Christmas dominate the holidays. Continue to enable us to be Your mouthpiece in sharing the gift that keeps giving. In the matchless name of Jesus! Amen!
