Rebuilding the Temple
SCRIPTURE: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13

Does your temple need renovations? As believers go through life attempting to look more like Christ maintaining good health is often overlooked. Many times, our physical ailments are a result of poor eating and exercise habits. These ailments can overwhelm even the believer, making him think the situation is hopeless or she is too far gone. When the temple (your body) needs repair and you feel out of options depression or the desire to just give up can set in. The Christian life is about discipline, diligence, and dedication. This rings true about maintaining our temple. You may think you are too far gone, you are too old to change, or you just may not want to change.
Whatever your excuse is understand it may be stunting your spiritual growth. You absolutely have what it takes to rebuild your temple, and you want to look more like Christ, right? Rebuilding the temple takes the same discipline, diligence, and dedication you use to live godly. Although it may not be easy it will be worth it, and you already have what it takes to start and finish the project. Philippians 4:13 says, that you can do all things through Christ, who strengthens you. This includes eating better, exercising, and breaking addictions because we know that ALL means ALL. The how is something you already know:
1. Submit to God, resist Satan – James 4:7
2. Work to achieve your goal – 1 Corinthians 9:24-27
3. Practice moderation – Proverbs 25:16
4. Practice self-control it is important in the Christian walk – Proverbs 25:28
5. Walk in exceedingly and abundantly – Ephesians 3:20
You have everything you need to rebuild the temple. Submit to the God and He will help you resist those food, sugar, and caffeine cravings. Be willing to put in the work to achieve your goal. Understand the importance of moderation and practice it. Remember that self-control is obtainable with the help of the Holy Spirit. Lastly walk in exceedingly and abundantly because God can do above and beyond what our minds can even comprehend.
PRAYER: Lord, please help us to rebuild and restore the temples You have given to us. Help us to be disciplined even in our eating. Help us Father to break the chains of addiction and to bring our bodies under subjection so we can control our fleshly desires even those that relate to food. Lord, we thank you for our temples that have been designed to endure the punishments and abuse we put on them. Forgive us for defacing Your temple and forgetting that we are not our own. In Jesus’ name, Amen
