He is LORD Over That Day, Too
SCRIPTURE: “You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, Nor of the arrow that flies by day, 6 Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.” Psalm 91:5-6

Is there really a “Devil’s Day” and why have we esteemed this day as such? There could be an argument made to educate about the history of that day, but why study the counterfeit when the real thing is here. Exodus 9:29, Psalm 24:1, 1 Corinthians 10:26 and 1 Corinthians 10:28 all declare that "the earth is the Lord’s and all its fulness." AMEN! This world is God’s creation, spoken into existence with all power and authority by His own Word! Nevertheless, we are not naïve! We acknowledge that we must exhibit sobriety (1 Peter 5:8). There are dark forces, roaring lions, working among us and seeking to devour us every day and not just on the last day of October. We keep in mind that “we are of God and the whole world is under the sway of the wicked one” 1 John 5:19.  Is that why we have relinquished territory fearing that acknowledging October 31 is synonymous to celebrating Halloween? This seems to equate to fear, which God has not given us a spirit of and furthermore, the fear or dread of that day gives the day as much power as if we did celebrate it.
What would Jesus do? Counter it, by letting His light so shine in a world where men love darkness! You say, “But I ain’t Jesus.” I say, but you are being conformed into His image (Romans 8:29), being made to look like HIM, our Savior and Elder Brother, every day! So, don’t get caught up in the aesthetics of the day but. let your light so shine. Today, chose not to be afraid of the terror by night. Turn on all your house lights, turn on your praise and worship music. An evangelistic opportunity is about to come to your door between 4 and 8pm, today. Yes, it’s the mailman, the UPS, FedEx, Amazon delivery person, and it’s also children dressed in costumes with hands out, beckoning for some candy. Give them Jesus. Give them the Gospel. Hand out Gospel tracks! Quote John 3:16. Tell them, “Jesus loves you!” You might be the only “Jesus” they see. And throw a couple pieces of chocolate in there and esteem this day, and the other 364, as one that the Lord has made, we will rejoice and be glad in it.
PRAYER: Jesus, You are light and You have decreed that Your children should be light bearers. If we are afraid, Lord, help us to see Your perfect love that casts out all fear, that we dwell with You, that we abide under Your shadow, under Your wings, that You are our refuge, our fortress, our deliverer. You are our God and in You we will trust as we share salvation with ! In Jesus’ name I pray, amen!
