Have You Forgotten Your Purpose?

SCRIPTURE: “’You are My witnesses,’ says the Lord, ‘And My servant whom I have chosen, that you may know and believe Me, and understand that I am He. Before Me there was no God formed, nor shall there be after Me. 11 I, even I, am the Lord, and besides Me there is no savior. 12 I have declared and saved, I have proclaimed, and there was no foreign god among you; Therefore you are My witnesses,’ says the Lord, ‘that I am God. 13 Indeed before the day was, I am He; and there is no one who can deliver out of My hand; I work, and who will reverse it?’”  Isaiah 43:10-13
It seems that every trial we face in this world is a test of our faith and purpose in this world. Our loyalty and commitment is always on display as to whether we are genuinely what we are or what God says we are for Him. We are the only true witnesses in this world for the truth about the true and living God who has shown Himself to us who believe in ways that should be beyond question in our hearts. This responsibility as His true witnesses is the common thread that we as Christians share with the Jews as is clearly declared both in the Old and New Testaments, (Isaiah 44:8; Acts 1:8). Our task in this world is to bear witness to the truth of who God is and what He has done. In our verses for devotional meditation, the questions are does the world know what God is like from the words that we speak that testify of Him and the examples we display that reveal His true authority in this world. Though it is true that the world cannot see God directly, but our purpose in small and in great ways is to be a reflection of Him in this world.

The LORD our God has given His people many promises, proofs, and powerful reasons for us to boldly stand and declare His Name and ways to a world that is lost and blind without Him. We are witnesses that He has and can deliver His people in His time (Isaiah 43: 1-3). He does not promise to always keep us from the trials of fire and floods, but “WHEN” we pass “THROUGH” them He is able to keep and protect His people whom He has formed and redeemed unto Himself. We can’t be His true witnesses unless we go through some situations to see for ourselves that He is true to every guarantee He has spoken to us. Just as His deliverance never falters, we have been chosen to be witnesses to His love that never fails (Isaiah 43:4-9). He is not ashamed to declare His love for us who are unworthy of it in every way of our sinfulness. Yet, how can we even in the slightest be ashamed to declare our love for Him? The LORD has not only loved us and honored us, but He has created us to be His people for the very purpose to be instruments and vessels for His glory in this world. Who else can tell the world about the true and flawless God who is over and above all things (Isaiah 43:10-13)? Despite the fact that the ungodly may not want to hear the witness that God has given us, we must declare that God has said:
(1) “No god was before Me and none will live after Me” (Isaiah 43:10).
(2) “…no deliverer besides Me” (Isaiah 43:11).
(3) “…no other god among you” (Isaiah 43:12).
(4)“…no one can deliver you from My power” (Isaiah 43:13).

Our God has hemmed the world up to one option and that being Himself. Just as He has chosen to love this world, He must judge it in His time. We are the witnesses that He has chosen to declare the whole truth that God has given us. Let us not falter in our witness as the nation Israel did by rejecting the whole truth that included the testimony of Christ our LORD as the Savior of the world.

PRAYER: Thank You LORD for entrusting us with the truth about You. Your grace has opened our eyes to the glorious truth of Your presence and working in our lives. Please, we pray for the necessary sufficiency and courage to stay committed to the task You have set before us as Your witnesses to a lost world about the Savior who has come and is coming back for all who have believed the witness concerning Him. In Jesus name we offer this prayer. Amen.

Amen! Amen! Neither is there salvation is any other, for there is no other name given among men whereby we must be saved {Acts 4:12} I praise God for His awesome grace in writing my name in the Lamb's Book of Life before the foundation of the world!
