Abiding in Jesus Through His Word

SCRIPTURE: “If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.”  John 15:7
Jesus calls us to remain closely connected to Him, and one of the most powerful ways to do that is by treasuring and studying His Word. Scripture is God’s voice to us, showing us His heart, character, and will. When we spend time in the Bible with an open heart, the Holy Spirit illuminates its truth, teaching us, correcting us, and drawing us closer to Christ. Paul reminds us that “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness” (2 Timothy 3:16). The more we meditate on God’s Word, the deeper our roots grow in Him.

Ways to read & study the Word of God:
1. Pray & Fast
2. Read Christocentrically with the practice and teachings of Jesus in mind
3. Read spiritually by being empowered by the Holy Spirit. Pray the holy spirit gives you understanding of God's word. (The natural mind cannot understand the spirit of God.)

As we abide in Jesus through His Word, we find that His truth shapes our thoughts, attitudes, and actions. Daily nourishment from Scripture empowers us to live fruitful lives that glorify God and reflect His love to others. Let us make reading and studying the Bible a joyful priority, allowing it to transform us into His image, day by day.

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, thank You for giving us Your Word that we may know You and walk closely with You. Teach us to treasure and delight in Scripture, so that we may grow strong in faith and abide in Your presence continually. Help us to apply what we learn and bear much fruit for Your glory. In Your name we pray, Amen.

Sister Ariel, when I read your devotional, I could not help but think of your grandfather, who was not only a fellow brother in Christ but my dear friend. He loved the Word and abided in by his memorization, always keeping it in his heart and on his lips. John 15:7 astounds me because it says that if we abide He will answer whatever we ask. Abiding and answered prayer go together, for if we are truly abiding our requests will be in accourdance with his will. Thanks for the reminder, we need to stay in the Word,

Favor, beyond our being justified, is conditional. God is gracious. Our repentance matters. "If we confess our sins, He is faithful to forgive us of our sins and to cleanse us of all unrighteousness." Thank you, Sister Ariel, for the blessing God gave you to share. Now, we must all know it, and show it, and have some grit to sow it - "All to the glory of God." Amen.
