When God Is First

SCRIPTURE: “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” Matthew 6:33
This verse reminds me to keep my priorities in order. In life, often I get caught up in chasing the money, the success, the status; anything to validate self-worth and what the world views as doing well in life. This verse really grounds me to seek God’s kingdom before anything else and not to chase what the world says you need to do to be considered doing well in life. It tells me that if I make God the number one priority and focus- through prayer, discipline, and living with purpose, then everything I need will fall into place. This has been proven to me repeatedly when I let God work on His time

When I put God at the center of my day, decisions, and goals, I experience more peace. Whether I’m facing uncertainty about the future or dealing with daily worries, choosing to seek God first helps me trust that He already knows what I need and will provide on His time. This verse is important because it teaches me that stress and anxiety often come from trying to control things myself and reasoning on my own.

PRAYER: Dear God, when I feel uneasy and distracted from things of the world, continue to remind me that You already know what I need and will provide. Help me to continue to seek You first in everything that I do. Work on me and give me a heart that fully trust You and live my life in accordance to You and Your will. Thank You for always providing for me what I need and not always what I want. Amen!
