Letting Go

SCRIPTURE: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6
First things first, I want to thank God for allowing me the time to complete this devotional. Over the past three months, I’ve been studying for a test for my job that qualifies me for the position I’m in. Passing the test allows me to keep the job; failing it puts me a step closer to the door of the job I just got. The test was 1 hour and 45 minutes long and covered general information about stocks and bonds.

During these past three months, I’ve also been finishing college. My schedule looked like this: wake up at 7 a.m. to study, 10 a.m. class, 12 p.m. PT/listen to the Bible or Kingdom Men, then study from 1 p.m. to 12 a.m. This became my senior year schedule because of the requirements of the test I had to take along with finishing school.

Football had finished, so a lot of time opened up—but that time was dedicated to studying. I had to put away my video games for the entirety of the three months. My dad would joke with me about it, but video games had been a relaxation session for me. Not anymore—it was time to focus. So, on I went, staying up sometimes until 4 a.m. studying, just to get right back up and do it all again.

God brought me through these three months in a way I just don’t know how. He gave me patience and the ability to focus for long periods—sometimes six hours continuously. Something I would’ve never thought I could do, He brought me through.

On May 22, I went to take my test, and He allowed me to pass, with all the preparation He had put me through. On May 9, I graduated from college with a 3.7+ GPA and finished six out of eight semesters on the Dean’s List. Honestly, I feel like I’ve been through a maze, and Christ has just been pulling me along.

I can’t thank Him enough. I pray He continues to help me as I’ve got two more tests for work to take. But I know He’s there, and I’m forever grateful to Him.

PRAYER:
Lord God, I’m finally here your humble servant. I just want to take time to thank You for every single problem, trouble, disaster that seemed so big to me. These things are opportunities for me to showcase my trust in You. In times that I fail to do that I ask that You provide me with even more strength and wisdom and knowledge to understand where You are, Father. I ask that You continue to lead me, not with my eyes, but with my heart chasing after You. Thank You Lord, Amen.

Bro. Joshua, when I think about your youth, I am reminded of 1 Timothy 4:12. You are certainly an example for other believers, whether young or old. And even though I am many years your senior, you are an example for me by your discipline, focus, and faith. Will keep you in my prayers
