Forgiving To Be Forgiven

Daily repentance should be a healthy spiritual practice for all believers, because, News Flash, we sin every day.  All week, our Devotional Team has been showing us just how integral “Repentance from Sin and Unforgiveness” is to the believer. Commit this scripture to memory-it will help you!
SCRIPTURE: “And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors. And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. “For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.” Matthew 6: 12-14
Forgiving other people does not settle our eternal destination,
It establishes alignment and relationship with the Lord to accomplish His expectations.

Christ’s work on the cross alone pardoned our sins by His grace,
Man’s actions have no say because the penalty for our sins is paid.

Matthew Chapter 6 verses 12 through 14 is not referring to God’s initial act of forgiveness,
He is describing the cleansing we obtain when we confess sin to restore fellowship in our daily living.

Refusing to forgive others interrupts our fellowship with the Lord,
The prayers, petitions, and desires we request are considered null and void.

Before we offer anything to our Lord, the scripture says, first reconcile with your sister or brother,
Forgiveness in this sense is what God threatens to withhold from Christians who refuse to forgive others.

We are hypocrites with the audacity not to forgive when we pray for forgiveness,
Denying ourselves of true fellowship walking about without righteous cohesiveness.

Displaying my anger towards someone, JUST LIKE ME with ill-advised resentment,
Speaking bitter sentiments toward someone, JUST LIKE ME who requires forgiveness.

An unforgiving spirit is a serious and dangerous sin that must be confessed,
Verifying a view towards our offender through feelings and emotions that God contests.

So, if you desire to restore your fellowship with Christ, choose to restore broken relationships,
How we love horizontally will determine the love we receive vertically through Kingdom citizenship.

Therefore, we will choose to repent for our sins and allow the Lord to rectify our pride and stiff necks,
Lord! Do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one as we are restored to reconnect.

Prayer: Your mercy is unmatched! We are so unworthy! You have the truth right before us, yet we have turned away. The obstacles and challenges before us are not built for us to handle, they are created or allowed by You to handle for us. Forgiveness is a spiritual tool that must be used. It will truly reveal our feelings about You and whether we desire Your presence. Your mercy is unmatched! 1 Peter 5:7 In Jesus’ name!
